This weekend il try and get some pictures of Twizzy and I in our new kit, but this depends on one thing - the snow thats currently falling like mad outside........sigh....all together now ' GO AWAY SNOW'

It Was Cold & Then It Snowed!!!!!

Picture
Two weekends ago we planned on going XC schooling and we were rained off, this weekend we planned on Xc again and, this time snowed off, massive sulking has been going on here to say the least. Saturday was so cold, when hacking I could not actually feel any part of my body, apart from my feet I must add thanks to the wonderfull Cool Horse Socks. As the snow was forcasted I left Twizzy in who seem very happy to be munching hay to her hearts content, while I filled every spare bucket I could find with warm water to stop it freezing up to early. After I went back to the yard a bit later, the snow was already falling and by 10pm there was about 5cm outside our house.
Sunday morning arrived with lots of annoying white stuff covering everything outside, Mum came up the yard with me (to make sure I didnt drive to fast on the snow I think) She very kindly mucked out and watered up, while I took Twizzy out to the field and took some pretty snow pictures of a very beige coloured grey pony....hehe

Such a pretty girl :O) but then again I would say that wouldn't I (but you know you agree)
As all horsey games for Sunday were sadly off, this left me with not an awful lot to do. So I put my hand towards making myself more domesticated and made, Macaroons and Wirl biscuits (cant think for the life of me what they are actually called.

A rather relaxed weekend

Picture
Its been a very relaxed weekend here this week, mainly due to the fact that I had a visitor in the form of Harry aka expert horse lunger.....Of course his lunging skills had to be taken advantage off, and while we were waiting for my Dad to bring me some hay, Harry lunged Twizzy while I lunged one of the ponies of the yard, Harry is so much better at lunging Twizzy than me, he can even get her to walk, which I can never get her to do, all she wants to do is canter and trot....oh and spook!!

Sunday afternoon I put my baking skills to the test and made some very VERY tasty biscuits mmmmm they look as good as they taste, see picture below.
On Monday we have a jumping lesson with Caroline Moore which will get us set up for eventing season, that is getting closer and closer by the day. whoop whoop.

Jigsaw...Honest I was playing ponies at the same time

What a weekend!!

Picture
As my car is still broken, the only way I could get to the yard on Sunday was via bike! Im writting this now as I think within the next few hours I wont actually be able to move! 14 miles on a bike when you havent actually sat on a bike for months is a killer. Twizzy has been a very good girl this weekend. I schooled her on Saturday, as the hunt was meeting in the yard and I didnt fancy getting caught up in that! Sunday we went for a hack with Heidi and she was on a mission but was well behaved considering, which is a good job as I dont think I would of been able to pull her up if she started messing about.
So I didnt have to bike home, and then almost bike right back again,I emptied the trailer of hay, cleaned the shed out, cleaned out my feed bins, and well just had a good tidy up. Also decided that Twizzy could do with her tail and legs washing so she is no longer grey with a brown tail! Just counting down the days now till out first event of the year. We are planning on going to vale view on the 22nd to the arena eventing, we will only do the 1m class and then try and get out XC schooling, before we head over to the EMDG ODE on the 26th Feb, then its Oasby before we know it on the 11th March (Twizzys other birthday)

Merry Christmas

Picture
So its all over and done with now for another year, and the count down can now begin to the eventing season :O) yay.
I have spent my christmas chasing Twizzy out of the mud near the gate way, to a more grass covered part of the field, where she is allowd to roll, todays trick included 'im just eating this bit of grass!!!!!' hmmm.... naughty pony.

Hi Everyone.
Im not sure if you have heard of the ESMA awards. They are awards that are given to people who use social media in the equestrian world, wheather this is on Twitter or a online blog.
If you enjoy my website and my rabblings on Twitter please nominate me in section 6 which is for amateur rider. Of course there is lots of other amazing blogs kept by amateur riders, LK Equestrian, Tor Heard Eventing, Trafford Eventing, ELC Eventing, BSF Eventing, Shoe String Eventing (last years winner) just to name a few. Please follow this link to see what other sections there is to nominate in.

MUD MUD MUD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Picture
I do love Twizzy, but I do wonder why she has to roll in the most grubbiest part inthe field, I get her all nice and clean and then she just rolls in the dirt. It does make me wish she was bay sometimes, but then again if she was bay, I dont think we would have gone to look at her, but at least when she is clean she does look stunning :O)

Any way, I wish you all a Very Merry Christmas, and a Lovely New Year.

Twitter

Picture
I have been using Twitter to try and keep all my lovely followers upto date, with our random daily things that make us smile, happy, pleased, upset and angry, all with the odd photo thrown in here and there.
Twitter is also a brilliant tool for talking about my sponsors as much as possible, by using the simple @ followed by who ever I want to direct a comment at. For example; Its a freezing cold day but my feet are very toastie at warm with my wonderfull @coolhorsesocks2 or Twizzy is enjoying her lovely dinner of @purefeed pure working.
I also find myself looking to twitter for advice and helpfull tips when things arent quiet going right, I have made some amazing eventing friends through Twiter this year, and its a super way of keeping upto date with each other over the winter months, and keeping each other in best frame of mind, when things arent going our way or we have all had snow for the past 3 weeks.
So here are some links to some of the best people to follow.

Maxavita

Picture
Over the next couple of months im going to be doing a product review on Revita a new jpint product for humans from Maxavita. Im only 21, but with falling off many times, and having horses land on me, I have some very sore joints, im hoping that these tablets from Maxavita will really help me have a more pain free winter, which is when my joints hurt the most.

Maxaflex is the horse version of these, which has an amazing effect on Twizzy which keeps her in great form, so if these are anything like maxaflex im sure I will see a massive improvement sooner rather than later.

Last Event Of The Year!!

Picture
I cant actually believe that our last event of the year in just over a week away! Im fence judging at Oasby, so if you see me on your way round the course, please do come and say hello :o) We will be competing in Novice Section O on the Sunday and im number 417.
On Saturday 8th October we are taking Twizzy XC + SJ schooling to Williouby Lodge Farm, to get in some practice to hopefully help us achieve that double clear that we are after, only time will tell.

Quick Update

Picture
After Winkburn I had planned for Twizzy to have a week off, Sadly this ended up being nearly two weeks off as on 5th September, she jumped on my foot, and....well I haven't been to have an xray, it was pretty sore ans very black. So this left twizzy having another week off to get fat and wolly in the field. I did manage to lunge her a couple of nights and had a very lovely 'helper' on the Tuesday after she had done it. So today is Saturday, and I have ridden for the first time in ages, Twizzy was foot perfect, if not a little bit on the lazy side. So Tomorrow im taking her for a hack with my friend, Twizzy first hack out since......26th August......hmm......Could prove interesting if its as windy tomorrow as it has been today.

Pony Club Area Eventing

Picture
Today we have been to the open pony club area to try and get to the pony club championships, im very pleased to say that we have infact qualified as a team .Our team came 3rd but 2nd place was a mixed team. This is very exciting news as last year we went as an intermediate and this year the open :o) Very exciting, this does mean however we will no longer compete at Shelford Manor and out next BE event will be Winkburn Novice on the 28th August. Full report to follow within the next day or so.

Week Update

Picture
What a week, im not actually sure where its gone. Last time I had one mintue to myself it was Monday and its now Friday night and nearly 10 0'clock!!
This week I have managed to get in lots of schooling both in the field and in the school. On wednesday we went to pony club training at Vale View. Twizzy was amazing as per normal when we go and see Caroline. We jumped over a decent sized novice course, which she jumped really well over and then we did some XC type fences, which was really good before buckminster on Sunday. Twizzy really took everything in her stride and produced a brilliant round. I had planned to take Twizzy for a good canter tonight, but as we got futher away from home it went very dark and a big flash of lightening and then thunder made me and Twizzy turn round and go back towards home. Hopefully tomorrow will be better weather and I will be able to have a good canter somewhere before Sunday! Im also going to walk the course tomorrow as I wont have time to do it on Sunday and im Dressage is at 8am shortly followed by our Showjumping and Cross Country. I have mixed feelings at the moment both sick and excited, who knows what will happen, suppose we will have to wait and see.
Rachel xx

Weekend Update 3rd July 2011

So this is it, its less than a week to go untill Twizzy and I take part in our first ever Novice. We are number 351 and in section H, first horse out on course on Sunday. Luckily for me Buckminster is very local so I will be walking the course on the Saturday, I also drive past the course twice a day monday-friday so im fully aware of how much raiin there has been there, and its begining to look like the ground will be great. Yesterday we took Twizzy SJ schooling too Aylesford as I havent seen Caroline Moore during the whole of June as being busy with Work and celebrating my 21st. Twizzy jumped really well, we had the jumps set between Novice and Intermediate Height and she lowered two poles in the fist round and then jumped and amazing clear the 2nd time round. Today I have been for a good Canter and Gallop while out hacking. This week I will try and get some schooling in and on Wednesday we have event trianing, which will give us the chance to have another jump round a decent size track before Sunday.

Pure Feed Saddle Pads 26th June 2011

Picture
Welcome to my new news page, I hope to keep this a little bit more updated with little bits and bobs as they happen, rather than writting a long dairy post and it taking you all a lot longer to read. Im very lucky to have such wonderful sponsors, one in which being The Pure Feed Company, who has recently sent me some beautiful branded items to wear during events, so if you see a grey wondering around at an event near you with a Pure Feed Logo in tow, please come and say Hi.
